GVA Trofee's Citadelle de Namur

Yesterday was the the first race as a team, and what a race it was! Many say it was easily the heaviest event on the calendar.  It was mainly half slip-and-slide downhill followed by a grueling uphill on tough cobbles and a soft muddy drag up to the leg-zapping runup that drops the racers off onto the finishing pavement.

It was Veerle's first race of the season so she was focused mainly on getting back into race rhythm.  Not only did she quickly find her rhythm, she posted a stellar placing of 13th against a star-studded field.

It was Christine's second race and after a first lap crash that landed her in last place, she slowly made her way through the field to finish in 17th. Aside from a few bruises she was thankfully okay.

There are no women's events next weekend so Veerle plans to get in a solid workout competing in a duathlon near her home.  Christine will take the weekend off from competition to heal up and recharge.

Thanks for reading!
